Dinner in Mathus Iceland

Day 1. – Arrival, Welcome to Iceland

Arrival depending on your flight schedule. You can either take the flight bus or be picked up by private driver which will take you to your hotel for check-in. You have the option to visit the Blue Lagoon on the way to Reykjavik. We recommend that you should have dinner in one of the great restaurants Downtown Reykjavik has to offer. We can send you our list of recommendations and book a table for you.

Day 2. - Food and Culture in the South

Today, you will go on a food and culture tour with a private driver guide, or on your own in a rental car. First stop is Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of Iceland’s first parliament. From there you will head for a visit to Laugarvatnshellir, home of the “Cave people”. During the years 1910 – 1922 families lived in this cave and it has been renovated to look exactly how they left it. From the Cave you will drive to Efsti-Dalur farm where you will get a presentation about icelandic dairy farming and products made in Efsti-dalur and taste their fresh products like Skyr, Feta Cheese, Whey and Ice Cream. Next stop is the Great Geysir, which is not active now, but you will see Strokkur which sprouts every 15 minutes. From Geysir you will drive to the famous Gullfoss waterfall. For lunch you will to taste the famous tomato soup in Fridheimar, a tomato farm made. Your dinner this evening will be in Fjoruhusid, Stokkseyri where you will have a langoustine feast for dinner.

Day 3. - Reykjavik Food and Culture

On Day 3, you will go on a walking food and culture tour in Reykjavik. You will meet your guide in Perlan where you will be handed a tablet with an app that provides you with additional information. This is tour will take between three to four hours and will be a feast for all senses, sight, taste, hearing, smell and touch. You will get to know everything you need to know about each location, food, and drinks you'll be having. The rest of the day can be used to discover Reykjavik the capital city of Iceland or to go on one of the additional tours listed here below. You can have dinner in one of the great restaurants of Downtown Reykjavik, we will give you our recommendations and book a table for you.

Day 4. Cooking Class

In the morning you will attend a cooking class where you will learn to make delicious Icelandic cuisine with fresh local ingredients under the supervision of a chef. After the course you will enjoy your creation with a glass of wine. In the afternoon you can go on one of the additional tours listed here below. Dinner will be in one of the great restaurants of downtown Reykjavik. Overnight stay at your booked hotel in Reykjavik

Day 5. Departure

Transfer to the airport is according to your flight departure. Overnight stay in the booked hotel.
